About WVAHI.org

On October 16, 2001, a group of certified professional home inspectors established the West Virginia Association of Home Inspectors. The goal of this group was to provide a standard whereby all home inspections in West Virginia could be gauged for the protection of the general public. We dedicated our efforts to the advancement of the Home Inspection Industry. Working directly with the State Fire Commission and the State Fire Marshal’s office we were able to promulgate a rule that in 2006 became law in West Virginia. This law set forth a Standard of Practice and Code of Ethics as well as a Certification process for those individuals desiring to do home inspections in West Virginia.

The WVAHI Standards of Practice and Code of Ethic set the standard for WVAHI member inspectors. By following these standards, we help ensure the general public that inspections will provide a level of security which can be measured, monitored, and enforced. A copy of the WVAHI Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice is available on this web site.

The members of the WVAHI meet the first Tuesday of every even month at the Kanawha Valley Board of Realty, 2110 Kanawha Blvd. East, Charleston, WV; From 6:00 till 8:00. At these meetings we cover general business and present 1 hour of continuing education in issues related to the home inspection industry. We hold a winter workshop annually in Flatwoods, WV where at least 12 hours of continuing education is presented. These hours can be applied toward the 16 CEUs required by the State Home Inspector Legislation. These meetings are open to all Real-Estate professionals.

An affiliate membership is available to Realtors, Appraisers, Lawyers, Mortgage Lenders, Contractors, Suppliers, Engineers, and Architects and other professionals within the real estate community.
